Pediatrics/Pediatric ICU at Hopital Adventiste d’Haiti to get a facelift! On October 19, 2010 several organizations convened at a roundtable discussion held in Miami, Florida, called by the administrative board of Hopital Adventiste d’Haiti. The meeting’s agenda was to devise a master plan for the development of that institution.
The contributing partners included Adventist Health International, ADRA Haiti, Project Hope, Christian Blind Mission, PULSE, OMAT, Loma Linda University, Florida Hospital, Houston Rotary Club and the Adventist University of Haiti. This collaboration will pull together our financial and intellectual resources in the coming months to develop the infrastructure and capacity to deliver quality medical care for the people of Carrefour, Haiti.
A substantial amount of finances has been raised and will go towards the construction of a brand new Maternal-Child wing at the hospital in which the Pediatric ICU will be housed. PULSE will play a significant role in the pediatric section in structural planning and staff training. A team will be on the ground in Diquini in November 2010 to begin physical planning for the facilities as well as continued staff training.
n conjunction with our partners PULSE will mobilize volunteers for the maternal-child section to the site throughout the year. This collaboration that puts the needs of Haitian children at the forefront is a huge step towards improving outcomes for infants and children within Carrefour, and hopefully the surrounding region.
